Our Philosphy

Our Pre-School is surrounded by the beautiful Kent countryside and located in The Pavilion at the centre of Brasted’s Recreation Ground. We are fortunate to have a classroom that gets ample sunlight while the outdoor space is also utilised for various educational activities.

Our educational approach is based on a deep respect for children as unique individuals. Children are valued as confident and capable individuals with their own feelings, thoughts, and interests. They learn best in their own way and at their own pace, motivated to learn by a natural curiosity and a love for knowledge. Our aim is to develop the child’s natural desire to learn and to guide them in their endeavour to reach their full potential.

At Brasted Pre-School we recognise families as the most important influence of a child’s development and therefore we believe that the inclusion of families and members of the community to our programme is essential.

As educators we believe it is important that children’s discoveries and learning is celebrated through reflection and meaningful documentation.

We are strongly committed to safeguarding and it is within our duty of care to create an environment in which the children feel safe, valued, and secure.

As educators we believe and acknowledge the fundamental role of ongoing professional development and safeguarding training, so as to enhance our ability to provide the highest quality of care and education for your child.

Brasted Pre-School aims to:

  • provide high-quality care and education for children from two and a half years of age to statutory school age
  • work in partnership with families to help children to learn and develop
  • promote ‘British Values’ through our spiritual, moral, social and cultural education
  • contribute to the life and well-being of the local community
  • reflect on what and why we do what we and what might change and why

We have a strong belief in providing the highest standards and a home-like-feel care tailored to every child’s interests and needs. Through our holistic approach, we aim to create a harmonious environment where the love of learning through exploration, play, and imagination will be an essential part of the everyday pre-school life. Our promise is to offer an enabling environment and a strong connection to nature, in order to nurture confident, resilient, and curious minds.

Values

The Educators of Brasted Pre-School embrace the following values:

  • To respect the individuality of children and their families
  • To listen to children’s voices
  • To work together
  • To promote children’s freedom to make choices
  • To treat others as we would like to be treated

Outdoor activities contribute to children’s health, their physical development and awareness of the world around them.

Our carefully prepared environment includes the chance of children to engage with natural materials through the use of  practical life trays, sensorial and cultural elements, as well as language and maths activities. Children can choose from a range of activities in order to develop their ability to select and work through a task to its completion. The children are also encouraged to take part in adult-led, small and large group activities, which introduce them to new experiences and help them gain new skills, further reinforcing their ability to work with others as a team.
